Art and Music Students in Pre-K to 8 are introduced to music appreciation, musical theory and performance art. They are also taught art theory, art history and various concepts, and learn about artists and movements in cross curriculum content projects.
Computer Students in grades K-3 are taught to play fun, interactive, learning computer games in the subjects of math, reading and spelling. In addition, they will learn beginner typing skills along with increasing their knowledge of how a computer works. Fourth grade will take students into greater depth with their typing skills by practicing on programs such as Microsoft Word. Their skill and knowledge with computers will continue to evolve as more challenges are presented throughout the school year. Grades 5-8 will continue to greatly improve their typing skills on Mircosoft Word along with practicing on other programs such as Powerpoint and Excel. As the grade level increases so does the difficulty of the class and the knowledge presented to them about the digital world. Other support knowledge includes: surfing the web safely, anti-internet bullying sessions, the dangers regarding social sites such as facebook and myspace, finding good internet resources to aid in school work, computer maintenance techniques such as virus protection and making the computer faster, internet citation techniques to avoid threat of plagiarism, and as a bonus: taking apart a computer and teaching students what really goes on inside. These courses are to aid students when they go to high school and then college so they can stay ahead of the competition and succeed.
